Summer Seminar

Meditation: Its Purpose & Practice

July 21-23, 2017
SRV Oregon Ashram in Portland

“As the timepiece on the wall goes on ticking,
so too must you continue to meditate.
Practice japa and meditate at regular times giving up idleness.
And don’t just seek God; see God.
You can see Him if you strive to attain a pure mind.” – Sri Sarada Devi

Meditation, though practiced by many, is rarely attained.
Instead, people are only making efforts to concentrate, but usually
without first preparing themselves via practices that subdue and overcome distraction.  Having attained to concentration of mind, then meditation is possible.  But meditation itself is not the summit, but the penultimate state leading to its culmination, and sacred purpose.
