Summer Retreat 2014

SRV American River Retreat over Independence Day

SwamijiThe Life and Teachings of Swami Vivekananda
July 3 – 9, Forest Hill, California

For the forthcoming 2014 summer retreat, with its profound subject of The Life and Teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the accent will be placed upon the great swami’s relationship and observances of the Western culture and its people after he arrived to the United States in 1893 – all within the context of guidance and teachings that he felt were most crucial for the people of current times.  To enhance this content, and in keeping with the SRV sangha’s memorization of the Song of the Sannyasin, select verses of Bhartrihari’s Vairagya Shatakam, or Verses on Renunciation — one of Vivekananda’s favorite works — will be selected, contemplated, and memorized during the retreat.
