Spiritual Transmission from Two Illumined Swamis: Teachings for the West From Vivekananda and Aseshananda

June 26 – 30, 2026

Commencing just a week prior to Swami Vivekananda’s Mahasamadhi, this timely retreat will treat the insightful teachings and advice that two prominent swamis of the Ramakrishna Order transmitted to Westerners, each in his own time. The dove-tailing of these two monks and sannyasins – the 39-year- old Vivekananda embodied just a few years into the twentieth century, and the 93-year-old Aseshananda living almost until the twenty-first century – gave extra and ample time for the teachings of Advaita Vedanta to penetrate into Western thinking. But some of the most salient points of this double transmission have scarcely been deeply contemplated upon, their possible ramifications left unrealized. These form substantial retreat material that will be highly informative for the contemporary mind of spiritually awakening beings.
