Sunday Class – The Crucial Role of Memory in the Process of Rebirth

     Billions of transmigrating souls are, and have been, taking on bodies for countless ages.  The earth realm (as opposed to heavenly realms and beyond), is the prime location for these incarnations.  Important of note, is that it is fragmented consciousness that is doing the incarnating, facilitated, consciously or unconsciously, via the human mind mechanism and its powers of projection.      Waking up out of this dream of embodiment is what is called Enlightenment, and one of the main necessities for Its attainment is recovery of the mind’s memory of its previous births.  Then, for one, the soul will come to know what sets it apart from the animal kingdom, and from ignorant animalistic actions as well, giving it a chance to recognize, then realize, it’s divine nature.  As the scriptures of the Goddess declare:

“Ya Devi sarva bhuteshu smriti-rupena samsthitha,

Namastasyai, Namastasyai, Namastasyai namo namah:

Oh Divine Mother of the Universe, You exist in all beings as retentive memory.

Salutations again and again to Thee.”
