Message from Annapurna Sarada

The Two P’s
The first “P” is for prison and parole.  It was very heartening to find our sangha almost completely of one mind with regard to welcoming our students being released from prison — those who became avid students during classes at Oregon’s prison facilities.  This can be a sensitive topic, but our sangha has definitely stepped up to the plate and accepted the SRV policy for students on parole.  You can see this policy by clicking here.

The second “P” is for pledging.  It has been a tough year economically for many these past two years.  Even so, the SRV sangha and friends have generously shared what they have and mostly shielded our spiritual organization from these hard times.  Unfortunately,  it seems to have caught up with us and the outlook for 12 months ahead is not as certain as it was when we crafted the annual budget a year ago.  However, a few people have helped us usher in 2011 in such a way that we are starting out on a good footing for the next few months.  We need more people to step forward and pledge, or give timely donations now and again.

Here’s a third “P”:  Please remember that tithing/pledging to your spiritual home is a spiritual virtue and benefits yourself and others.  SRV’s sole purpose is to make the liberating Knowledge of Vedanta accessible — To set the feet of humanity solidly on the path of universal Truth.  All suffering is ultimately based in ignorance.  We gain realization by helping others become realized.

Whatever you give, give with faith.

Whatever you give, give with a sense of plenty.

Whatever you give, give with humility.

Give with knowledge of the purpose

for which the gift is being made.

Om, Tat, Sat!
