SRV American River Retreat over Gurupurnima

SRV’s annual summer retreat near the pristine American River is joyfully anticipated each year by all ages of our sangha. This is the perfect retreat to get one’s spiritual feet wet for newcomers, and a profound opportunity for all members to live in holy company for a full week — meditating, studying, serving, and playing together — in the peace and harmony that arises naturally by “seeking first the Kingdom of Heaven.” Each morning we rise to the sound of Babaji chanting from the Bhagavad Gita and then sit for meditation. In daily classes, Babaji transmits the essential teachings of Yoga and Vedanta, while our SRV kids enjoy their own program and art projects. Afternoons include explorations of the River followed by the Chela Dharma class for teens and young adults that is focused on one of the Four Yogas. The day closes with devotions at the altar, singing the Names and Glories of the Lord and Mother of the Universe, meditation and satsang. Join us for a week you will never forget.
Concurrent Children’s Retreat
Children, ages 6 to approximately 13 have their own simultaneous retreat. Activities include “salute to the sun,” morning ritual and meditation, Vedantic stories and lessons, arts and crafts. Classes are held across the seasonal river and over the Dharma Bridge. The children have their break with the adults and enjoy healthy snacks. After the late morning session everyone proceeds to the river for the afternoon. Upon return is a time of quiet reading, supervised by parents, followed by dinner. Children and adults attend evening satsang with Babaji, a precious close to a day full of truth and dharma.
