Sunday Class – Samara Sattva: Siva & Shakti’s Bid for Liberation

3 Sundays: September 28 (Saptami), October 5 & 12

As the seers of India declare, after looking at this world and its hosts of embodied beings, authentic spiritual practice is rare.  This is because a strong desire to be free (mumukshutvam) must precede it.  Otherwise, all efforts – even well-intentioned ones – result in either failure to grow, spiritually, or merely taking refuge in conventional religion.

The Indian ideal of Samara sattva moves to remedy this situation by both offering a host of special practices to engage in, and encouraging aspiring couples to select them and engage in fructifying them together, as one concentrated force.  As the Father of Yoga writes about this rare ideal: “That alone is self-effort which springs from right understanding, and which duly manifests clearly in one’s own heart, and which has been exposed over time to the teachings of the scriptures and the guidance of the guru.”
