India Cultural Festival in Portland
From beginning to end everyone’s assistance with creating and manifesting our first booth at a public event was outstanding. From offering ideas to coordinating all the pieces, to creating all the parts, to assisting at the booth – it all went smoothly. The booth was beautiful! Swamiji states that if our intention is pure and unselfish the result will be in tune with that!
One special encounter that day was with a young couple who had just arrived from Kolkata. When they saw the banner and then Swamiji’s image and books, they came right over and were very moved. The man had attended school at the Vivekananda College, and in his family are at least two generations of devotees. They did not know that there were any Ramakrishna devotees or centers in Portland, and were so happy to learn of SRV and the Vedanta Society — like they had been lost in a wilderness and had just found their shelter.
